Cosmetic Surgery/ Procedures

Laser
This is a fairly common procedure to remove skin pigmentation and blemishes. The risks are scarring and hyperpigmentation, especially when there is sun exposure following the laser treatment.
Sometimes a combination treatment using laser followed by a chemical peel or other lightening agent is required to obtain the best results.
Peels
Chemical peels are an important part of the armamentarium used against the treatment of pigmentation. We are keen users of Cosmelan peels which are useful against a variety of conditions that cause pigmentation in both the deep and superficials layers of the skin, such as melasma, Hori's nevus and even postinflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Botox
Many patients have the misconception of the toxicity of Botox. They are worried that it may spread to the rest of the body, or may have unknown
 harmful effects on the body.
In my experience, Botox is one of the best non-surgical methods to treat dynamic wrinkles. It works by paralyzing the muscles that cause that particular wrinkle. This is a reversible process as the nerve will send out new nerve endings to the muscle, thus causing it to function again.
The only disadvantage is that the patient has to return for repeat treatments, or in the rare occasion, may develop resistance/ antibodies to Botox.
